This study of the 13th century text The Elucidation, gives a completely fresh view of the Grail as both Faery and Holy Grail: one vessel with two appearances. This text has been part of our teaching for many years, but now we have a new translation by Gareth Knight & Caitlín to better help assess its implications. The text reveals an alternative causation for the Wasteland which arises from the violation of the Well Maidens and the spurning of the hospitality of the Faery world, and has environmental implications for our world that we cannot ignore. It explores the seven cloaks of the story and its many guardians, how the fracture of the Faery Accord leads to Wasteland, and how this essential story encapsulates the Grail myth, as well as the wars of Arthur with the Proud Company.
